“Oasis Church exists to glorify God by preaching, teaching and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
What does this mean?
-Glorify God - We are to glorify God in all things, in every aspect of our lives and existence as disciples of Christ, (I Cor. 10:31). This means that we are to see God as the source of every good thing, to be able to give Him thanks, praise and worship in all situations, (I Thess. 5:18) and to make much of Him in all circumstances. Therefore, our ultimate goal as a church body is the same as a Christian is to fulfill what we were created to do – glorify God!
-Preaching the Gospel – All Christians are commanded to preach the good news of the Gospel of Christ to all the world (Mark 16:15; Rom. 10:17). As a corporate assembly, we seek to glorify God by faithfully preaching the message of the cross of Christ in every sermon. Beyond the church walls, we endeavor to proclaim His Gospel in every relationship and sphere of influence.
-Teaching the Gospel – We are called to make disciples. This means that every believer should be glorifying God by helping another believer grow in spiritual maturity. God also gave gifts to the church in the form of men (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers – Eph. 4:11) so that all would be equipped for the work of ministry. Therefore we teach biblical truth, not only in the weekly church gathering, but in small groups, Bible studies, discipleship / mentoring relationships, in our children’s ministry, in our youth group, and in every aspect of the church.
-Living the Gospel – Bringing God glory by living out the beauty of the cross is a central purpose to the life of the Christian. Cross-centered lives that proclaim Jesus as Lord will reflect the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23), serving as encouragement and grace to the believer and a light to the unbeliever. All of life is to glorify God by living the love, truth and grace shown to us through Jesus Christ.
